Out of Hours Services in Islington

Your caring role doesn’t stop at 5pm on a Friday.

So here are the details of some services you can call if you need help or support in the evenings, at night or at weekends.

Local Services

Harmoni – Camden and Islington’s Out-of-Hours – GP Practice – 020 7388 5800

If you urgently need to speak to a doctor, you can ring Harmoni, the out-of-hours GP service. They are based at St Pancras Hospital and are open overnight and at weekends, whenever other doctors’ surgeries are closed.

Islington Social Services Emergency Team – 020 7226 0992

Open for community care emergencies between 5pm and 9am, and 24 hours a day at weekends. This service is for cared-for people of all ages and includes mental health emergencies.

Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust – Mental Health Crisis Service – 0800 988 2149

Runs from 5pm to 11pm every evening.

Islington Crisis Phone Line – Another Mental Health Crisis Service – 020 7226 9415 or 0800 345 7779

This service is for any Islington resident who has a mental health need or distressing thoughts.

It’s operated by One Housing Group out of 18 Highbury Grove, and includes:

a crisis night centre between 6.30 PM and 10.30 PM
a crisis phone line between 5pm in the evening and 6:00 am the next morning

24 hour access to focused emotional and social support to any Islington resident aged 18-85 who has a mental health crisis.

Islington Council’s Out-of-Hours Team – for Council Tenants and Leaseholders – 020 7527 7272

If you live on a Council estate and experience frightening or anti-social behaviour at night or at weekends, call this team. They identify and respond to social and environmental issues. Working closely with the community and in partnership with Housing providers, Police, Young People’s Services and other local agencies to help resolve problems and acting as professional witnesses, working towards making Islington Council estates a safer place for all.

Call the NHS Free on 111

If you have a medical query for yourself and the person you care for, and it’s not an emergency, the first number to call is 111. When you call 111, a trained adviser will ask you  questions to find out what’s wrong, give you medical advice and direct you to  someone who can help you, like an out-of-hours doctor or a community nurse. If the adviser thinks your condition is more serious, they will direct you to hospital or send an ambulance.
