Islington Carers Hub hosted an Autism and Learning Disabilities event, in April 2026, World Autism Acceptance Month. It was well attended, with Islington residents coming along to find out about local support services and to meet other carers and residents living with autism or a learning disability.

Joanne’s Story: A Family’s Journey Through Autism Diaganosis, Care and Support
Islington Carers Hub member Joanne, cares for her two children with autism and other health conditions. Joanne’s son, 22, was diagnosed with autism when he was five years old. Her daughter, 19, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder and also lives with epilepsy and autism. Now at college and going to university, her daughter has been advised to seek a formal diagnosis for autism so she can access further support and help. Read their story.
