Workshops for Black and Asian Kinship Carers

Thursdays 3rd and 24th April

Are you Black or Asian and raising the child of a family member or friend? If so, Kinship, the leading charity in England and Wales for kinship carers, would like to hear from you.

Kinship are building on recent research into the needs and experiences of Black and Asian kinship carers. They are bringing together Black and Asian kinship carers and professionals that work with them, to listen to their experiences and needs, identify priorities and come up with ideas and ways to better meet their needs.

What taking part will involve for you:

  1. Attend an online event for Black and Asian kinship carers on Thursday 3rd April from 10am – 12pm. In the event you will:
    • Meet the organisers and other kinship carers taking part
    • Learn more about the research and recommendations
    • Help to plan the approach to the workshop
  1. Attend an in-person workshop in London on Thursday 24th April from 10am – 3pm. In the workshop you will work with professionals from across the sector to:
    • Prioritise recommendations
    • Come up with ideas for change

You can still take part if you are only able to attend the London workshop.

You’ll receive a total of £140 for taking part. This can be paid via bank transfer or shopping vouchers. They can also cover the cost of any support needs which might include travel and accommodation, childcare, translation or support with accessibility needs. Let us know what you need.
