Carers Week 2024 Programme
This year, Carers Week takes place from 10-14 June. Carers Week is a national initiative which highlights the importance of unpaid carers, the challenges that they face and recognition of the contribution that they make to families and their communities.
We have organised some activities for carers to mark the week:
Carers Battersea Walk
Tues 11 June 10.30am-12pm
Meet at Battersea Power Station Tube station exit
We kick off Carers Week with a walk to Battersea Park, the Royal Hospital South Grounds and will take a stroll along the river Thames. Ending at the café in Battersea Park.
Carers Mindful Walk
Wed 12 June 2.30-3.30pm
Islington Ecology Centre Gillespie Park, N5 1PH
If the Battersea walk sounds a bit strenuous, why not join the slow guided walk around Gillespie Park, Islington’s largest nature reserve. We’ll be listening out for birds and spotting wildflowers. There will be plenty of time to chat with other carers. Free hot drinks to follow.

Carers Strategy Launch
Thursday 13 June 11am – 3pm
Upper Holloway Baptist Church, 11 Tollington Way, N7 6RG
We thought Carers Week would be the best week to launch the Islington Adults Carers Strategy and we’ve made it a fun day with wellbeing activities like Tai Chi and Laughter Yoga, but also a lunch. The strategy has been created in collaboration with the council, local providers who support carers and most importantly carers themselves.
Carers Self-Compassion Session
Sat 15 June 12-4pm
Cally Clock Tower Centre, Caledonian Park, N7 9PL
We conclude our week of activities with a Self-Compassion Session. It will be a time for carers to reflect and find some time for themselves through gentle meditation, sharing food, listening and contributing to the wisdom of the group. The session will be hosted by a carer.
