The Islington Carers Hub’s team is here for you when you need us. We provide emotional, financial and practical advice and guidance to unpaid carers aged 18 years and over. We can register you as a carer, introduce you to a network of Islington carers and help you to get a break.
A carer is anyone who cares for a friend or relative with an illness or disability without being paid. So, if you’re helping with shopping, paperwork, attending hospital appointments, you’re probably a carer. You might help someone round-the-clock or for a few hours a week.
A Carer’s Assessment is a structured conversation to see if there’s anything that can make your life easier as a carer. This might include things like how to get a break from caring, help with benefits or help to find specific support groups.
The first step is to contact us. We will help you complete your registration and talk through any support that might be helpful. You’ll then receive a welcome pack and our regular newsletter and mailings.
Our helpline is available for advice, guidance and a listening ear Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

Islington Carers Hub is a service provided by Age UK Islington, funded by Islington Council.
Aside from running the service, we support the council with implementing the Islington Adult Carers Strategy, which runs through to 2030. If you want to know more about how the implementation of the carers strategy is progressing and are keen to have your say, please join us for the bi-month Carers Strategy Steering Group.
Islington Carers Hub provides support for unpaid carers (sometimes called family carers) who are 18 years or over, who live, work or care for someone living in Islington.
We have an Islington Carers Partnership Network and work in partnership with services providing support for carers. This includes services for specific health conditions, disabilities or support for younger carers.
We have a helpline for carers and provide face-to-face appointments to help with practical, financial and emotional issues. We also provide carers assessments, celebrate the contribution of carers, run free and affordable events and help them to get a break.
Age UK Islington who runs the Islington Carers Hub service can provide support to the person you’re caring for. This could be help staying independent at home, with money worries, mobility issues or help to get out and about, plus more.
Read about the experiences of three Islington carers caring for family members: the challenges, the rewards and the support that they have valued in their caring journeys. Each story shows the incredible contribution that people make looking after friends and loved ones in Islington.
